Kebijakan Pemerintah Laos dalam Menangani Human Trafficking Periode 2000 - 2010

ABSTRACT Human trafficking is a transnational crime, so that every country should have the right strategy to deal with it. Lao PDR, that is a source and transit country in human trafficking has to make efforts both through internal and external policies. This study aims to determine the condition of human trafficking occurring in Lao PDR and its causes as well as the effectiveness of the policies of Laotian government in dealing with human trafficking. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data were collected through literature study using secondary data related to the problems posed in the research. The results showed that the issue of human trafficking has occurred in a long period of time, because it is more structural roots of poverty and the condition of socio-cultural community. Various policies had been carried out by the Government of Lao PDR during the period 2000 to 2010, both internal and external policies. However, this policy had not been effective in addressing the problem of human trafficking in Lao PDR. Keywords : Human Trafficking, Policy, Lao PDR
