Abstract Shipbuilding industry sectors contained in government development plans in the field of industry is one of South Korea’s success to intervene development, particularly for Shipbuilding Company Hyundai Heavy Industries which gets a lot of support, thus becoming Global Champion. This study aims to provide an explanation to understand the role of government to intervene the success of the shipbuilding industry as well as knowing any intervention by the government in making the company Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard as a company with the biggest assets and sales in the world. The study also describes what policies will be used by Hyundai Heavy Industries to promote the shipbuilding industry as a tool of national economic income.
