ABSTRACT This thesis discusses about China’s policy change towards Chinese ethnic in Solomon Islands after anti-Chinese riot in April 2006. The purpose of this thesis is to find out China’s factors that pushed China to change its policy towards Chinese ethnic in Solomon Islands, that after all this time China’s government never have attention to Chinese in Solomon Islands. So that, the theories that used are power, national interest, and foreign policy that focus on policy cycle especially at policy change. That theories are matched for writer to explain and analyst the factors why China change their policy towards Chinese ethnic in Solomon Islands after riot in April 2006. This thesis used library research and explained by descriptive analyst method. The conclusion of this thesis about the factors that pushed China’s government to change their policy towards Chinese ethnic in Solomon Island after riot in April 2006 are 1) China has their economic interest in Solomon Islands, so China wants to hold their power in Solomon Islands; 2) China has One China policy purpose to reunification between China and Taiwan; 3) China has interest towards Chinese overseas; 4) China as new power in South Pacific region; 5) there are diplomatic competition between China and Taiwan in Solomon Islands and South Pacific region.
