Corporate Social Performance sebagai Motif Utama Implementasi Corporate Social Responsibility PT. Gudang Garam. Tbk.

Discussion about this topic has spread starting from mass media and up to academics interest. Corporates social respinsbility itself then became a tool for corporate to gain fames, so that PT Gudang Garam, Tbk. As one of the biggest corporation in Indonesia, it only right if they do corporate social responsibility program, just as other corporates do. As a matter of fact, without doing corporate social responsibility, PT GG itself already brought a great impact for communities around them. The impacts, for example is offering a livelihoods a jobs and the growth of UMKM. But PT GG still doing their CRS despite the impacts. Question that arose later is “what motivated PT GG to do CSR?”. Qualitative method with descriptive approach is chosen to answering the research question. Data collective has been done by interviews, observation, and related documents. The research was located in four nearest district around PT GG, they are Semampir, Balowerti, Dandangan, and Ngadirejo District. Informants cma from these four districts, BAPPEDA Regional Kediri, and also Radar Kediri Daily newspaper as PT GG’s CSR media partner. Informants chosen using purposive sampling method. After all datas collected, the next step was analyze them to understand how PT GG organize their CSR. As datas have collected, then analyze it to understand how PT GG organising their CSR. First analyze instrument is General Model of Management CSR based on Jan Jonker and de Witte’s work. This management model examined corporate organising in foru, they are organising system, accountability, transactivity, and last identity. The result is PT GG isn’t doing their CSR seriously. It is showed through their major CSR programs in which was charity, limitation of stakeholder engagement beside corporate actors, and the fact that one of their program is neglected, Save Brantas. Second analyze was using PROPER instrument for community development aspect from Ministry of Environment and Foresrty. The result was same as before that PT GG don’t do CSR organising seriously and showed they don’t understand what CSR means. It showed from their previous programs were all charity. The only program that has community empowerment susbtance, Save Brantas was only works for months. Now, there are no clues from PT GG or other stakeholder that they will continue Save Brantas. From the result explanation, there are some conclusions. First, it is clear PT GG doesn’t have any sense about CSR concepts and how to organize it Second conclusion, PT GG thought by doing charity program, it means they are socially responsible. They are not wrong but not true either by doing that, as the easiest program is charity. Third, beside they do not understand corporate social responsibility concept, for them the most important thing is their performance, as they are seen doing CSR programs.
