ABSTRACT This study discusses the symbolic Islamic movement that fought the Islamic Sharia to be featured in the public domain. This movement brings the spirit of Islamic integralism, where the involvement of the state to ensure the implementation of Islamic Law through formal policy is a must. This study is very important to see how the political dynamic community based in encouraging the birth of a policy, a policy which does not only arise from the process of technocracy in the civil service but it can be born out of the efforts of the community through the mechanisms of social movements. The mechanism of this social movement occurs not because the breakdown of the relationship between society and the state, but it happens because the pattern of the relationship did not become effective formal channels for the entry of the aspirations of the Islamic Sharia into state institutions. This study uses a qualitative method, which the researchers to interpret and build logic based on data obtained both from interviews and secondary data obtained through domumen-documents are then processed and presented descriptively. This study takes Tasikmalaya as a test site for reasons other than the conditions of the people who were experiencing the change of condition of society is Islamic, where Tasikmalaya known as the city of students, a city that is the condition of the people had suffered moral degradation and began to leave the values of Islam, also the strengthening of the power of Islam symbolic happened in Tasikmalaya come from boarding schools, which generally moves in the substantive areas and cultural. In this research shows that there has been a strengthening of Islam Symbolic. Strengthening Symbolic Islam was seen on state involvement in efforts to establish an ideal society. The involvement of the state is intended to support the country in terms of legislation and budgeting so that their movements in shaping an ideal society would be easier to achieve. At the community level, the Islamists have succeeded in mobilizing symbolic belief or belief system of the people to strengthen the holistic understanding of Islam, where Islam is used as a rule in all aspects of life. This effort they did by way of the interaction of religion, religious lectures and indokrinasi. At the intermediary level, Islamic groups have succeeded in doing a deal Symbolic political parties by offering sound support, to ensure that political parties can accommodate their interests in the area of legislation and budgeting. Moreover, to achieve its goals, Islam symbolic pursuing a strategy which then brings great support in their motion that with their self-image is not as symbolic groups but by using them even substantive consensual with various parties that could potentially impede movement. They no longer show their understanding of Islam as a group of symbolic meaning of Islam, but they are more open to things that are contextual, even though they did not reduce their political goals.
