ABSTRACT This research motivated by the fact that there are so many micro industry in Indonesia which couldn’t mantain their sustainability because of some factors, such as lack of capital, low human education, lack of access to market, and lack of institutional organizational system. When we discuss about micro unit existence, business and institutional is two thing that related. Globalization in economic aspect such as free trade era is one of micro unit industry challenge in the future. Jati Husada Mulya (JHM) is one of herbal-micro-unit industry, managed by a group of herbalist women in Dusun Watu, Argomulyo, Bantul. JHM has the largest income and the most stable herbalist organization rather than three other group in Desa Argomulyo. Herbal has been chosen as the topic because, nowadays, competition herbal medicine business in Indonesia not only happen in micro unit but also happen in macro unit such as Sido Muncul, Jamu Jago, etc. This research used qualitative method. JHM management team, JHM members and JHM group companion are took part as research informant. This research also used existentialism theory from Jean Paul Sartre, combined with rational choice theory from James S Coleman, analyzed using four institutional dimention from Ronald Mackay and adjusted with some previous micro business unit research. The result shows that institutional existence strategy that has been used by JHM consist of leadership strategy which implementing rule to increase member’s commitment and responsibility. For the example, JHM has given punishment for members who doesn’t contribute positively to the group. JHM also has organized weekly activity every Tuesday to increase meeting intensity of members. Weekly meeting also used to solving group problems. From now on, JHM can creating management system that more integrated than before, and to motivating member group contribution, JHM can try to increasing rewards for members. Training proposal making can be used to corroborate institutional aspect that supporting group business strategy. Keywords : Strategic, Existence, Institutional Organizations
