Abstract In recent decades, the issue of community development programs that are part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a controversial issue that invites serious debate not only nationally but also globally. The controversy includes conceptual and implementation problems in the field. As a company that has been operating in Indonesia for more than 40 years, it was appropriate PT Vale Indonesia Tbk feel partly responsible for the welfare of communities around its operations. To achieve one of the objectives of the company, that is to strengthen partnership and cooperation with the government, employees, and local communities, community development or community development should be implemented with determination and earnest commitment of all involved parties.
