Analisis Interaksionisme Simbolik dalam Pengajaran Bahasa Indonesia yang Memanfaatkan Dukungan TIK Secara Sinkron

2016 | Tesis | Ilmu KomunikasiABSTRACT The research theme is Symbolic Interactionism that occurred during online language learning, involving both the teacher and learner in an interactive environment. Supported by the use of ICT and online learning technique discussions, this research was divided into three topics. With the development of online classes involving lifelong learners, it is expected that teachers, learners and institutions will be able to use these research results to improve educational programs in terms of technical aspects, methods, and intercultural understanding of the subject matter. This research was conducted in an Indonesian Language school that develops a new version of an educational product which was expanded from conventional form into the online space. This virtual classroom allows teacher and learner to have face to face communication. The method of this research is that of a case study supported by primary data (online interviews and direct observations), as well as literature studies as secondary data. The results have been explained in the style of a descriptive narrative in order to maintain the principle of constructivism. The research outcomes in terms of the use of ICT found that the software, hardware and skills of teachers and learners should be developed and updated continuously. In terms of online teaching methods and techniques, the practicians should develop specific teaching techniques supported by the teaching aids in both physical and virtual form. Finally, the teacher should have sufficient understanding to encode the symbols whilst communicating with learners from different cultural backgrounds. Last but not least, whilst this study covers just a single aspect of the online learning process, the author hopes that this research can contribute to the fields of communication, language education, and culture.
