Analisis Kontestasi Wacana Danais dalam Ruang Publik Pemberitaan SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat 2013 - 2014

Abstract This study was triggered by a contradiction that occured in the discourse contestation of Danais DIY, which appeared to have a favourable condition for the growth of deliberation publik discussion. It is exist in free press era out of government intervention, a free-to-enter condition for every effected subject to be heard in the news public sphere, and being newto Danais issue itsef that brought everyone to a relatively level field. Through an early elaboration, domination pattern can be found in the aformentioned public sphere. Bureucratic perspective seems to dominate most of the related news. The so called condusive environment for deliberation created a strong domination in the discourse contestation. To elaborate this contestation even further, this research borrowed critical disrcourse analysis from Norman Fairclough. In this paradigm, dicourse is seen as one component of a larger social system, so that it can make influence but also being influenced by sorrounding contextual characetristics. This critical discourse analysis method is divided in three major level, namely textual analysis, discourse practice analysis (text production and consumption), and sociocultural analysis. This research explore news text about Danais that appeared in SKH Kedaulatan Rakyat between 2013 and 2014. Based on textual analysis, there are two discourses that have a dominant influence through the contestation. The two was maximalitation Danais budget-absorbtion and supremation of regional excecutive body above central excecutive and regional legislative. Both are shown fully capable to assert their influence toward other discourses. Although there are numbers of other contestant, their interest are put under pressure and being forced to be linear with dominant discourses. At the discourse practice level, there are two kind of interpretation happened in text producent’s mind. First, interpretation about the nature of Danais, which considered as chaotic and conflictual. Second, tex maker’s interpretation about what their reader want. Both interpretation met and created SKH KR editorial choice to muffled potential conflict that Danais wassupposed to trigger. This choice was made by media institution based on economic consideration to assert their market domination in front of new market constellation of local newspaper in Yogyakarta. At the time, there are several new local newspaper in Yogyakarta, each with their own national-level financial support. At the sociocultural level, economic factor dominate contextually and able to marginilize other pressuring factors such as politic an cultural. Economic domination forced the text producent to consider situational, institutional, and social factors using certain perspective that in line with economic interest. From that dicourse analysis, it’s clear that domination of economic factor created a distortion that penetrated text producent and news context level. That economic domination appeared to distort the discursive-intersubjectice test of deliberation proess. Economic domination could also be found work in effort to fulfill the deliberative requirements. Inclution towards every effected subject was quite wel fulfilled. There are perspective variation in Danais news coverage that backed that claim. But through the discourse contestation, that variation was not accompenied by the variation of interest they brought.
