Kerjasama Regional untuk Menanggulangi Drugs Trafficking di Asia Tenggara:(Studi kasus Segitiga Emas)

Drugs trafficking activity able to cause destruction and destability of a country as targeting the younger generation successor to the nation. Drugs which are exist in the community itself coming from all over environment both domestic and global. Therefore, the issue of drugs trafficking is no longer a part of the concept of traditional security which saw the threat always come from the foreign country but part of the security concept of non-traditional because it is more complicated and involves other aspects such as economic, social, cultural, environmental, etc. Associated with the concept, the issue of drugs trafficking in Southeast Asia, especially the Golden Triangle (Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos) is responsible for international security threats. In an effort to defend themselves from the bad effects of drugs trafficking, the Golden Triangle is committed to join regional cooperation to eradicate the presence of narcotics. Through this research, the regional cooperation of the Golden Triangle in addressing the problem of drugs trafficking is examined using a qualitative approach and descriptive type of research. In this research, the technique of data collecting is triangulation which means the researcher use the data from different sources and periods of time. It is known that, in addressing the problem of drugs trafficking, the Golden Triangle has developed internal policies such as anti-narcotics Act also conduct regional cooperation that both policies are mutually help suppress the growth rate of drugs trafficking in the region. Cooperation conducted Golden Triangle include Alternative Development Program consisting of substitution crops, integrated rural development, and develop eco-tourism; Mekong Law Enforcement Cooperation; and the Border Liaison Office. Unfortunately, the facts show that the presence of opium in the Golden Triangle are not really abolish, but just move from one region to another as a result of deep-rooted corruption problems there.
