2016 | Tesis | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalABSTRACT Just after the Cold War over, the refugees tend to face more difficult and dangerous options in their life. One of the biggest caused is the ignorance of the state, which is a prime actor in international relations, to deal with this kind of supposed to be all state problems. This condition has been deteriorated when the states tend to give the refugees some nightmare, in regards to how they treat them. Using a Securitization Theory model, this thesis proves that southeast asians states tend to perceived the refugees as a threat to their national security. This threat has been distinguished into three main sector, such as political sector, economic sector and societal sector. This construction then has been manifested by the states into their national policies that many of those are breaking the rules of human rights, especially the right for survival. With focus on contemporary period, particularly after the Cold-War, this thesis also recorded the degradation of state policy toward refugee, if we compare the current policy with the period of Indochinese refugee 1970’s until 1990’s.
