THE USE OF NEW MEDIA BY PUBLIC BROADCASTING INSTITUTION Case Study Site and Some Applications Supporting www.rri.co.id as New Media Broadcasting Messages on Radio Republik Indonesia By: MUHAMMAD LUTFI LUBERTO 13 / 355561 / PSP / 4754 ABSTRACT Developments in information technology, presenting new challenges. No exception in the world of media, not just in Indonesia, all the media in various parts of the world is currently facing the challenge of "Media Convergence". Technological advances eventually change the pattern of consumption by the public information to the media. Conventional media trend that has penetrated into the online media (internet) apparently helped change the way the audience to get information. Internet we know as a new media, becomes the medium for the mass media to make content convergence (convergence continuum), present information from the mass media are usually called online news portal. One of the conventional media that has begun is reduced massive internet radio. Audience Media Radio is usually called a listener, it evolved as technology develops, meaning they heard not only through the radio (physical form), but also through other means, among others, audio streaming can be accessed through online news portals and applications in the operating system on smartphones. This is what ultimately makes Public Broadcasting Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI LPP), a media-based public radio, moved conduct utilization of new media, and the result is its website at the address rri.co.id as an online news portal, as well as several applications for meet the needs of the public, namely RRI Play, Be Young and RRI 30 Detik.
