ABSTRACT This thesis aims to analyze the interests of United States America in the Korean peninsula reunification. US interests are related also to the presence of US military forces in South Korea and Japan are influential political dynamics and security in East Asia, especially during the administration of President Barack Obama. This research is a qualitative study using literature study through analysis of a variety of books, journals and other sources. Results of this study concludes that efforts in moving towards the reunification of Korea, failure is generally caused by the interference of external actors, especially of big countries, include the US. The presence of US intervention in the Korean Peninsula is an effort to realize their national interests, especially with regard to the matter of maintaining influence and security and US forces in East Asia. For the US, North Korea and the development of its nuclear program threatens not only South Korea as allies, but it also threatens the US. Reunfication achievement will also be given effect in the role and involvement of the US in Korea and East Asia in general. US is one of the great powers that are still intensely engaged in the dynamics on the Korean Peninsula, especially with regard to the problem of reunification.
