Strategi Pengembangan Wisata Alam di Taman Nasional Gunung Merapi

2015 | Tesis | S2 Magister Administrasi PublikABSTRACT A national park as conservation area, in addition to preserve the system of life buffer, also mandated to manage the development of tourism. As a nature tourism destination, to be sustainable and support preservation of natural resources, and give a direct benefit for the community and the surrounding area, tourism management in a national park would need planning. One of them it is in a Mount Merapi National Park (MMNP), study of the aspect of strategic planning is not widely done, especially in environmental mapping the internal and external related to tourism management. This research aims to identify issues concerning the development of natural tourism, which directed for the preservation of MMNP and formulate an alternative strategy that could support the development of its natural tourism. Using SWOT analysis, internal and external factors of the organization MMNP (Balai TNGM) identified to get strategic issues and formulate natural tourism development strategy in MMNP. The results of the study map 4 ( four) strength and 5 ( five ) weakness, 7 ( seven ) opportunities and 5 ( five ) threat related tourism management in MNP. Conslusions obtained from research, there are two problems: 1 ) the presence of MMNP transition into Conservation Forest Management Unit (KPHK); and 2 ) across the prominent weakness i.e. the system and governance (human resources, financial, information, nature) not yet represent the implementation of management plan ( MMNP-MP) that puts ecotourism as a strategic program. The study offers two alternative strategies, namely: 1) improvement tourism management systems integrated with the management of the national park function and development of KPHK, 2) embodying KPHK management through joint management of community-based ecotourism.
