ABSTRACT With the fast development of the communication technology, social media is part of adolescent life. Furthermore, social media can play role in providing interaction and participation. This article presents the results of a study on the use of social media between adolescent and government of the city of Yogyakarta for communicating about reproductive health. This article used descriptive qualitative with interview and secondary data from “The Participation Of Adolescent In Political And Reproductive Health Issue Through The Use Of Social Networking” research conducted by Dr. Bevaola Kusumasari, Ario Wicaksono, M. Si dan Nurul Dwi Purwanti, MPA 2013. The results of this writing found that the government has done the interaction of adolescent through a forum which has been formed as Adolescent Information And Counseling Center (PIK-R) and Adolescent Health Care Service (PKPR) and although not all the government use social media but there was government have been using for interaction about reproductive health. While adolescent participation in individual or group activities classified as low in talking about reproductive health in social media. This article found that access willingness factor and adolescent knowledge being causes of adolescent less talk about reproductive health in social media. The conclusions suggest the use of social media is channel that distributes information than interactive features that can be involving adolescent. And then direction strength of communication relation classified as passive. This condition has also supported by adolescent that has not been utilizing social media to share information and discuss of reproductive health.
