ABSTRACT The term foreign policy and national interest are two things that cannot be separated. This is because the purpose of foreign policy itself is gaining benefit from the outside in order to meet the national interest. In general, Indonesian foreign policy direction during the reign of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono consists of several programs in which one of them is increasing Indonesian role and leadership in ASEAN, particularly in the establishment of ASEAN Community 2015. However, in the process towards ASEAN Community in 2015, there are various challenges faced by the community itself which need to be took note. This thesis is designed to analyze the efforts made by ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia in solving various challenges faced by the ASEAN Political Security Community by addressing a research question: "What and how do the contribution of Indonesian foreign policies under the government of SBY towards ASEAN Political Security Community 2015?" This research question will be analyzed by using a concept, namely foreign policy which is associated with the terms national interest. Through the use of the concept above, it can be concluded that Indonesian foreign policy under SBY in particular towards ASEAN Political Security Community has made a significant contribution to its achievement effort by 2015. This is realized by the various roles that have been made by Indonesia in its efforts to resolve challenges faced by the ASEAN Community. So, what Indonesia needed to achieve through these contributions is to increase its role and leadership in the establishment of ASEAN Community. This because there is a form of cooperation, namely political and security in the community, that could give Indonesia a huge benefit in order to meet its national interests and at the same time providing a positive contribution to the ASEAN Political Security Community.
