ABSTRACT Initialized from the phenomenon of organizational change of foundation into Perseroan Terbatas (Ltd) at Kanisius Printing and Publishing, this research is aimed to comprehend how communication contributes to building of employee’s understanding so that it can give whole understanding on indentity of an organization. This study utilized case study which aims is to obtain detail, intensive, and deeply background on communication in changing process. Interview technique and direct observation were utilized to get data congruity with informers and research objects. The research result indicates that vertical communication presence brings understandings towards change occurred, especially the communication between manager and subordinates. Communication could build employee’s identification in the smallest work unit in which they work everyday. Communication is built through information giving and feedback from direct manager to subordinates and it could build employee’s identification towards organization as a whole. The understanding possessed by employees concerning important aims of change could create employee’s commitment towards change dedicated by work attitude for organization and survive in it.
