Abstract This study focuses on the implementation model of SVLK for furniture product in Yogyakarta. It aims to describe how certification of SVLK serves as an instrument of diplomacy, trade in wood furniture products in the international market. This study uses qualitative method in order to collect and analyze the data. In addition, the data were analyzed by using three main theories those are commercial diplomacy, certification, and competitiveness. Finally, the result of this study contains three things those are (1) certification of the new instrument as SVLK is able to describe the efforts of diplomacy, trade in wood furniture products in international markets, especially with the European Union; (2) the implementation of SVLK on wood furniture products will provide a guarantee of excellence and quality of a product that will be marketed for furniture; and (3) the success of SVLK will be achieved with the full support of all parties concerned, be it Government or non government.
