ABTRACT ASEAN ( Association of Southeast Asian Nations) has an important role, strategically position in the area and the world. Southeast Asian Countries usually have exchange and cooperation program about culture, economy, politic, security, education. On the way to set up the ASEAN vision 2020, the collective commitment made by the ASEAN Leaders at the 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu City, Philippines on 13 January 2007 to accelerate the establishment of the ASEAN Community from 2020 to 2015. ASEAN Community 2015 will be established with three pillars; ASEAN Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. Indonesia and Vietnam play an important role in ASEAN, both of the two countries have its policies to prepare for this community. From these foreign policies, I made a research and figured out which pillar in ASEAN Community 2015 Indonesia dan Vietnam concerntrated and also illustrated the strength of each country. In my research, Indonesia regards as the leader of ASEAN Security Community and Vietnam concerntrated to the ASEAN Econimic Community. Indonesia’s foreign policies tend focus on securing the stability of the security of ASEAN or resolving regional conflicts in Southeast Asia. First, Indonesia is trusted to become the mediating factor to solve the conficts in Southeast Asian region, such as Indonesia is the mediation between the Cambodia – Thailand conflict about the Preah Vihear Temple, the Cambodia – Vietnam border conflict in 1979. Second, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa’s shuttle diplomacy performed a very significant successful negotiation in the ASEAN’s Six-Point Principles on the issue of the South China Sea was issued in Phom Penh on 20 July 2012. So that, Indonesia not only the mediation between ASEAN’s members conflict but also the leader who solves the problem between ASEAN and another regions. Vietnam is a important member in ASEAN. Since 1975, The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is an authoritarian state ruled by a single party so the the political condition of Vietnam is very stable and Vietnam has been focusing on improving the economic growth. In December 1986, the 6th congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has been launched “ Doi Moi” (renewal) in its economies, politics and society. Besides state and collective sectors in economy, private and foreign sectors are recognized. Since Vietnam became a member of ASEAN in 1995, ASEAN become the opportunity for Vietnam to opening up of her economy and to trade liberalization.
