ABSTRACT This study is about the political movement of the Thai Muslims-Malay in southern bordering provinces of Thailand. It aims to examine some causes that lead ethnic minority groups play their strategies in political movements in parliamentary democratic systems. This research would to find the causes of ethnic minority political movement from the Thai Muslims-Malay in southern bordering provinces of Thailand. This study used secondary sources from published materials which were analyzed using a qualitative approach. This research has found that “government policies” is the most important value that concerns the causes of political movement in ethnic strategies of the Thai Muslims-Malay. This study then concluded that the political movements in ethnic strategies of the Thai Muslim-Malay in southern border provinces of Thailand related with both external and internal factors. The external are such as government policies and the internal, strict religion and better education. It might be because the Thai Muslims-Malay in the southern bordering provinces of Thailand are still lack of political ethnic representatives in the parliamentary system for their interest groups through a proportional representation. Thus, it’s duty of government to upgrade their positive system such as the economic growth, the liberalism, and the atmosphere of cultural exchanges.
