Abstract The dynamics of political economy in the local private television bodies that occurs in ADiTV was interpreted as a relation among ADiTV with Muhammadiyah; a civil society organizations in Yogyakarta which based on religiousity, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), and the actors behind them: Amien Rais who currently hold a majority share over ADiTV and Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia Daerah (KPID DIY) as broadcasting regulator in accordance with the Broadcasting Act No. 32 of 2002. This thesis reveals the political economic practices that occurred in ADiTV that identified based on research timeline; which is divided into two main issues: (1) the conflicts of interest in the licensing process of ADiTV in order to get UHF 44 frequency channels, and (2) the conflicts of interest in the composition and stock ownership by deed changes ADiTV first and second. The methodology of this research is a qualitative case study. The conclusion of this research is very thick with the feel of the political economy and also a socio-cultural factor of Yogyakarta.
