2012 | Tesis | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalThis review was focused on the change of foreign policies of the United States in face of the Papua issue. It started from the early involvement of the United States in the era of President Eisenhower to the era of President Bill Clinton. Initially, the United States in the era of President Eisenhower has chosen to take neutral to the issue of Papua, but in the era of President Kennedy, during the Cold War, it was changed the policy because of the anxiety of the spread of the communism in Indonesia. Then after the Cold War, the policy was greatly changed. It was appeared in the era of President Bill Clinton that the United States pushed the Indonesian by the reason of the violation of the human rights. Nevertheless, the U.S also gave the supports to the issue of Papua by conducting often the visits in Indonesia. This phenomenon’s then made the author to find a question about why it was changed the foreign policy of the U.S to the issue of Papua. This question would then be discussed using the concept of foreign policy and neorealism theory that focused on the international structure. Thus, it could be concluded from the collected data that it was changed the international system from the era of Cold War to the after, including the developing issues that caused the behavioral changes, especially in the U.S.
