PENGARUH OBAT KUMUR EKSTRAK ETANOL TEMULAWAK 0,8% (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) TERHADAP PENURUNAN GINGIVITIS DAN JUMLAH LEUKOSIT CAIRAN SULKUS GINGIVA PADA ANAK DENGAN GINGIVITIS USIA 10-12 TAHUN

Gingivitis merupakan penyakit periodontal yang sering terjadi pada anak-anak. Salah satu cara pengobatan gingivitis adalah menggunakan tanaman obat tradisional, salah satunya temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) yang diketahui memiliki kandungan antibakteri dan antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh obat kumur ekstrak etanol temulawak 0,8% terhadap gingivitis dan jumlah leukosit cairan sulkus gingiva (CSG) pada anak dengan gingivitis sedang usia 10-12 tahun. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari 30 orang anak dengan gingivitis sedang yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, masing-masing terdiri dari 15 orang. Kelompok pertama diberi obat kumur ekstrak etanol temulawak 0,8% dan kelompok kedua berupa kontrol berkumur dengan akuades. Subyek diminta berkumur 10 cc selama 1 menit tiap pagi dan malam hari setelah menyikat gigi selama 7 hari. Jumlah leukosit CSG dan indeks gingiva kemudian diperiksa pada hari ke-1, 3, 7 yang dianalisis dengan uji Repeated Measure Two Way ANOVA. Hasil uji Repeated Measure Two Way ANOVA menunjukkan terdapat penurunan yang lebih signifikan pada kelompok obat kumur temulawak hari ke 3 (41,93 ± 15,1) dan hari ke 7 (20,80 ± 11,83) dibandingkan kontrol hari ke 3 (50,93 ± 16,10) dan hari ke 7 (49,07 ± 19,00). Selain itu juga terdapat perbedaan signifikan berdasarkan hari pengamatan pada jumlah leukosit CSG (p = 0,000) dan indeks gingiva (p = 0,002). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah obat kumur ekstrak etanol temulawak 0,8% menurunkan indeks gingiva dan jumlah leukosit CSG pada gingivitis anak serta semakin menurun jumlah leukosit CSG maka semakin rendah keparahan gingivitis.

Gingivitis is periodontal disease that often occurs in children. One of the gingivitis treatment is to use traditional medicinal plants, which is temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) that is known to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of this research is to know the effect of 0.8% temulawak ethanol extract mouthwash to gingivitis and the amount of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) leukocytes count in 10-12 years old children with moderate gingivitis. The subjects consisted of 30 children with moderate gingivitis, divided into two groups, each consisting of 15 children. The first group was given 0.8% temulawak ethanol extract mouthwash and the second was given control with aquadest. Subjects were asked to gargle with 10 cc mouthwash for 1 minute every morning and night after brushing teeth for 7 days. GCF Leucocyte count and gingival index then were examined on day 1, 3, and 7 which were analyzed by Repeated Measure Two Way ANOVA. Results of Repeated Measure Two Way ANOVA test showed there were significant decrease in GCF leucocytes count of temulawak mouthwash group in the day 3 (41.93 ± 15.1) and day 7 (20.80 ± 11.83) compared to control group in the day 3 (50.93 ± 16.10) and day 7 (49.07 ± 19.00). There were also significant differences based on observation days on GCF leukocyte count (p = 0.000) and gingival index (p = 0.002). The conclusion of this research was the 0.8% temulawak ethanol extract mouthwash reduced gingival index and GCF leukocyte count in 10-12 years old children with moderate gingivitis, also the lower GCF leucocyte count the lower the severity of gingivitis.
