Karies merupakan penyakit jaringan keras gigi yang terjadi akibat plak gigi. Casein Phosphopeptides - Amorphous Calcium Phosphate dengan tambahan fluor (CPP-ACPF) terbukti dapat menurunkan jumlah bakteri dalam plak gigi. Tooth Mousse Plus® merupakan krim berbasis air yang mengandung CPP-ACPF. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® terhadap penurunan akumulasi plak gigi pada anak usia 10-12 tahun. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental semu. Subjek penelitian terdiri 32 anak, usia 10-12 tahun yang dipilih sesuai dengan kriteria. Subjek dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu kelompok aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® dan kelompok tanpa aplikasi Tooth Mousse Plus®. Aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® dilakukan sekali sehari, setelah menyikat gigi malam, selama 7 hari. Plak dinilai dengan indek PHP-M sebelum dan setelah perlakuan pada hari ke 8. Penurunan akumulasi plak gigi pada kedua kelompok di analisa dengan menggunakan uji independent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata penurunan akumulasi plak gigi pada kelompok aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® (0,326±0,133) lebih besar dibanding kelompok tanpa aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® (0,150±0,075). Hasil uji independent t-test menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara penurunan akumulasi plak gigi pada kedua keompok (p<0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu aplikasi topikal Tooth Mousse Plus® berpengaruh terhadap penurunan akumulasi plak gigi pada anak usia 10-12 tahun.

Dental caries is a hard tissue disease of teeth that occurs due to dental plaque. Casein Phosphopeptide - Amorphous Calcium Phosphate with incorporated fluoride (CPP-ACPF) has been shown to decrease the amount of bacteria in dental plaque. Tooth Mousse Plus® is a water based creme containing CPP-ACPF. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of topical application of Tooth Mousse Plus® on decreasing dental plaque accumulation in children aged 10-12 years. This study was a quasi experimental. The subjects were used in this study consisted 32 subjects, aged 10-12 years were selected according to the criteria. Subject divided into 2 groups, topical application Tooth Mousse Plus® group and without topical application Tooth Mousse Plus® group. Topical application of Tooth Mousse Plus® was once a day, after brushing teeth at night, in 7 days. Plaque was assessed by PHP-M index before and after treatment on day 8. The decrease of plaque accumulation in both groups were analyzed using independent t-test. The results showed an average decrease of dental plaque accumulation of topical application of Tooth Mousse Plus® group (0.326 ± 0.133) was higher than without topical application Tooth Mousse Plus® group (0.150 ± 0.075). The result of independent t-test showed significant differences between the decrease of plaque accumulation in both groups (p<0,05). The conclusion of this study was the topical application of Tooth Mousse Plus® has an effect on decreasing dental plaque accumulation in children aged 10-12 years.
