Peranan Sosialisasi Politik Gereja HKBP Yogyakarta pada Pemilihan Umum Presiden Tahun 2014

Studi ini hendak membahas mengenai peranan sosialisasi politik yang dilakukan oleh Gereja HKBP pada Pemilihan Umum Presiden tahun 2014. Proses ini bertujuan untuk memberi pengetahuan dan pembelajaran politik kepada warga jemaat dan mengimbau jemaat untuk menggunakan hak pilihnya dengan dasar teologis sebagai warga jemaat sekaligus dasar politis sebagai warga negara. Selain itu studi ini juga ingin menjelaskan bagaimana proses sosialisasi politik yang dilakukan HKBP Yogyakarta serta implikasinya terhadap pandangan politik dan preferensi pilihan politik jemaat maupun lembaga. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif tipe single case study dengan fokus hanya pada HKBP yang berada di Jogja dan hanya pada Pemilu Presiden di tahun 2014. Kerangka teori dalam studi ini menggunakan konsep sosialisasi politik, kebudayaan politik, serta partisipasi politik milik Gabriel A. Almond dalam suatu sistem politik. Penulis juga menggunakan pendekatan-pendekatan teologis yang berkaitan dengan pemikiran-pemikiran para teolog Kristen dan Alkitab sebagai dasar utama Kitab Suci agama Kristen. Hasil penelitian dari studi ini menunjukkan adanya proses sosialisasi politik yang dilakukan Gereja HKBP Yogyakarta secara dua arah melalui berbagai interaksi dan sarana. Hal ini menghasilkan budaya politik partisipan pada jemaat dan berimplikasi pada meningkatnya partisipasi dan pengetahuan politik jemaat. Proses tersebut menghasilkan adanya keberpihakan dan preferensi pilihan secara institusi pada salah satu pasangan calon presiden yaitu Joko Widodo dan Jusuf Kalla melalui proses relasi informal. HKBP Yogyakarta meyakini pentingnya sosialisasi politik yang harus terus berjalan sebagai wujud penghayatan iman jemaat.

This research is conducted to discuss the role of socialization on politics by Gereja HKBP toward the Pemilihan Umum Presiden tahun 2014 (the Indonesian presidential election of 2014). This particular activity aims to educate the church apostrof s congregation on the importance of politics and also to inform them to exercise their rights in electing the nation apostrof s leader with theological approach as a church apostrof s flock as well as a political approach as a law-abiding citizen. In addition, this research also aims to elaborate how the processes of politics socialization performed by Gereja HKBP Yogyakarta were undertaken and how they implicate in the point of view of both the church apostrof s congregation and the church as an independent institution and the preference in their political choice. The author applied the qualitative method, single case study, focusing only on Gereja HKBP in Jogjakarta and the Indonesian Presidential Election of 2014. The framework theory in this research applied the concepts of politics socialization, political culture, and the participation of politics proposed by Gabriel A. Almond in a political system. The author also applied theological approaches in relation to ideas by Christian and Biblical theologians as the main basis of the Bible in the Christianity. The result of this research shows that there is indeed a process of politics socialization performed by Gereja HKBP Yogyakarta in two different ways; through a set of interactions and media. This results in political culture that is participative toward the church apostrof s congregation and therefore implicate in the increase in the political participation and the knowledge of politics itself. These processes create a condition of leniency and an apparent institutional preference leaning favorably toward one particular president and vice president candidate, i.e. Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla through informal relation process. HKBP Yogyakarta believes in the everlasting importance of politics socialization as a form of the church apostrof s congregation apostrof s appreciation of faith.
