Sistem pembayaran listrik di Indonesia sudah menerapkan sistem listrik pintar. Pada sistem listrik pintar, pelanggan mengeluarkan uang terlebih dahulu untuk membeli energi listrik yang akan dikonsumsi. Besar energi listrik yang telah dibeli oleh pelanggan dimasukkan ke dalam kWh meter prabayar yang terpasang dilokasi Pelanggan melalui sistem token. Penerapan sistem listrik pintar tidak lepas dari upaya-upaya penyalahgunaan. Pabrikan dituntut harus mampu memproduksi kWh meter prabayar yang dapat memberikan pengamanan terhadap upaya-upaya penyalahgunaan. Jenis penyalahgunaan, sebelum dilakukan perbaikan, meter harus dapat merekam kejadian dan atau memberikan indikasi terus menerus sesuai kemampuannya dalam mengaktifkan tampilan.

The electricity payment system in Indonesia has implemented smart electrical system. In smart electrical systems, customers spend money first to buy electrical energy that will be consumed. The amount of electrical energy that a customer has purchased is incorporated into the prepaid kWh meter installed at Customer's location through the token system. Implementation of smart electrical system can not be separated from the efforts of abuse. With this the manufacturer is required to be able to produce kWh meter prepaid that can provide security against misuse efforts. For any type of abuse, prior to the repair, the meter should be able to record the event and or provide continuous indication in accordance with its ability to activate the display.
