The Perception of Business Ethics Among Indonesian Undergraduate Students Based on Age of Maturity, Ethics Education, and Gender

Studi ini mencari tahu mengenai adakah perbedaan mengenai persepsi etika bisnis antara mahasiswa strata satu (S1) di Indonesia berdasarkan usia kedewasaan, Pendidikan etika, dan gender. Studi ini menggunakan kuesioner untuk memperoleh informasi terkait persepsi etika bisnis antara mahasiswa di Indonesia. Sampel yang digunakan dipisahkan menjadi tiga klasifikasi berbeda: gender (laki-laki dan perempuan); usia kedewasaan (junior dan senior); dan pendidikan etika (mahasiswa yang diajarkan secara formal dan mahasiswa yang diajarkan secara informal). Dari hasil studi yang dilakukan, ditemukan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan antara mahasiswa laki-laki dan perempuan terkait persepsi etika bisnis. Sementara itu terdapat perbedaan antara senior dan junior, dimana mahasiswa senior memiliki persepsi etika bisnis lebih baik dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa junior. Perbedaan juga ditemukan antara mahasiswa yang diajarkan pendidikan etika secara formal dan mahasiswa yang diajarkan pendidikan etika secara informal.

The study is about whether there is or not a difference regarding the perception of business ethics among Indonesian undergraduate students, based on their age of maturity, ethics education, and gender. The study used questionnaires to gather related information regarding the perception of business ethics among students in Indonesia. The samples are taken from all active undergraduate students of accounting majors in Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada and pharmacy majors from Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada. The samples then divided into three different classification: gender (male and female); age of maturity (junior and senior); and ethics education (students who are informally-educated and formally-educated in business ethics). From the conducted study, it is shown that there is no difference between male and female students. Meanwhile the difference is shown after comparing the result between junior and senior students, where the senior students have better perception compared to the juniors. The difference is also shown between students who formally studying business ethics and those who informally studying business ethics.
