Prarancangan Pabrik Titanium Dioksida dari Ilmenit dengan Kapasitas Produksi 50.000 ton/tahun

Titanium dioksida atau tianium (IV) oksida adalah senyawa anorganik berwarna putih yang umum digunakan sebagai pewarna maupun sebagai logam titanium dalam industri penerbangan maupun bangunan karena sifatnya yang kuat, ringan, dan tahan korosi. Kebutuhan titanium dioksida yang cenderung meningkat setiap tahun membuat peluang berkembangnya industri titanium dioksida di Indonesia cukup besar. Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi selama 330 hari/tahun dan 24 jam/hari dengan kapasitas produksi titanium dioksida sebesar 50.000 ton/tahun. Proses yang digunakan adalah proses sulfat dengan kebutuhan bahan baku ilmenit 209.686,87 ton, asam sulfat 98% 523.207,91 ton, air 1.196.996,09 ton, dan Fe scrap sebagai reduktor pembantu 29.722,76 ton tiap tahunnya. Secara umum, tahapan proses produksi titanium dioksida adalah sebagai berikut : 1) reaksi antara ilmenit dan asam sulfat 30% dalam reaktor alir tangki berpengaduk, 2) pengkristalan dan pemisahan pengotor, 3) reaksi hidrolisis untuk membentuk titanium hidrat, 4) pengkonversian titanium hidrat menjadi titanium dioksida pada suhu tinggi. Selain titanium dioksida, proses ini juga menghasilkan produk samping berupa FeSO4.7H2O sebanyak 420.473,51 ton/tahun. Sebagai penunjang, unit utilitas menyuplai kebutuhan air sebanyak 316.566,4418 kg/jam, steam sebanyak 531.065,1610 kg/jam, refrigeran sebanyak 26.407,7691 kg/jam, udara tekan sebanyak 180 m3/jam dan listrik sebanyak 6.500,36 kW. Pabrik ini akan didirikan di Tanjung Ular, Kecamatan Muntok, Bangka Barat dengan pertimbangan raw material oriented. Pabrik didirikan pada kawasan industri seluas 42.900 m2 dengan jumlah pekerja 215 orang. Kawasan industri dekat dengan pelabuhan sehingga mempermudah pemasaran produk dan pemenuhan kebutuhan air industri. Perhitungan evaluasi ekonomi memberikan hasil modal tetap yang dibutuhkan sebesar $71.755.676,05 + Rp154.289.394.090,12 dan modal kerja sebesar $29.604.222,16 + Rp464.590.363.632,49. Pada kapasitas 100% produksi diperoleh ROI before tax sebesar 49,84%; ROI after tax sebesar 24,92%; POT before tax 1,67 tahun; POT after tax 2,87 tahun;. DCFRR 36,38%; BEP 41,01% dan SDP 25,66%. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut maka pabrik titanium dioksida dengan kapasitas 50.000 ton/tahun ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.

Titanium dioxide or also known as titanium (IV) oxide is an inorganic white compound usually used as additive coloring agent and as metal due to its strong, light, and corrosion-resistant behaviours. As the demand of titanium dioxide tends to increase annually, the opportunity of titanium dioxide industry�s development in Indonesia is high. The plant is planned to operate for 330 days/year and 24 hours/day with titanium dioxide production capacity of 50.000 tons/year. The method used is sulphate process which requires 209.686,87 tons ilmenite, 523.207,91 tons 98% sulfuric acid, 1.196.996,09 tons water, and 29.722,76 tons Fe scrap as reducing agent per year. In general, titanium dioxide manufacturing process goes as follows : 1) reaction between ilmenite and 30% sulphuric acid in continuous stirred tank reactor, 2) crystallization and separation of impurities, 3) hydrolysis to form titanium hydrate, 4) convertion of titanium hydrate to titanium dioxide at elevated temperature. Aside from titanium dioxide, this process also produces 420.473,51 tons/year of FeSO4.7H2O as side product. As a support, utility plant unit supplies water as much as 316.566,4418 kg/hour, 531.065,1610 kg/hour of steam, 26.407,7691 kg/hour of refrigerant, 180 m3/hour of compressed air, and electricity of 6.500,36 kW. The plant will be established in Tanjung Ular, Muntok, Bangka Barat with raw materials consideration. The industrial area will be 42.900 m2 with employees up to 215 people. The plant location is close to the sea so that it is easier to market the product and fulfill the needs of water in industry. The results of the economic evaluation are fixed capital required equal to $71.755.676,05 + Rp154.289.394.090,12 and working capital equal to $29.604.222,16 + Rp464.590.363.632,49. At 100% production rate, obtained ROI before tax of 49,84%; ROI after tax of 24,92%; POT before tax of 1,67 years; POT after tax of 2,87 years; DCFRR 36,38%; BEP 41,01%; and SDP 25,66%. Based on the economic evaluation results, this titanium dioxide plant with capacity of 50.000 tons/year is worth to be studied further.
