Kontribusi Maskapai Berbiaya Rendah terhadap Integrasi ASEAN (2001- 2014) Intisari Maskapai penerbangan dengan biaya rendah (LCCA) adalah maskapai penerbangan yang memberikan tarif rendah dengan menghapus beberapa layanan penumpang reguler. Karena penerbangan menjadi komponen penting untuk menghubungkan kawasan Asia Tenggara ditinjau dari aspek geografis dan efektifitasnya, saat ini terdapat begitu banyak maskapai penerbangan terutama maskapai penerbangan berbiaya rendah yang fokus melayani wilayah regional seperti AirAsia dan LionAir di kawasan Asia Tenggara. Maraknya maskapai berbiaya rendah di Asia Tenggara sangat dipengaruhi oleh bangkitnya masyarakat kelas menengah di kawasan ini. Hal ini dikarenakan masyarakat kelas menengah membawa kemajuan dalam hal karakteristik budaya, sosial, politik, dan ekonomi yang memberikan kontribusi substansial terhadap pembangunan. Salah satu kemajuannya adalah kebutuhan perjalanan sebagai konsekuensi pengembangan kelas ekonomi. Sejalan dengan perkembangan ini, ASEAN sebagai organisasi regional di kawasan Asia Tenggara juga berupaya keras untuk mencapai Konektivitas ASEAN yang diharapkan dapat mensukseskan proses integrasi regional.

Low cost carrier airlines (LCCA) are the airlines that provide low rates by removing some of the regular passenger services. As aviation becomes an important component to connect the region because of the geographical aspect and the effectivity, today there are so many airlines especially low- cost carrier airlines that focused in regional area such as AirAsia and LionAir in the Southeast Asian region. The rise of the LCCs in the Southeast Asia is highly influenced by the rise of middle- class society in the region, as they are progressing in term of cultural, social, political, and economic characteristics that make substantial contributions to development. One of the progress is the need of travel as the consequences of developing economic class. In line with this development, ASEAN as the regional organization in Southeast Asian region also working hard to achieve ASEAN Connectivity that is expected to succeed the regional integration process. The contribution of Low- Cost Carrier Airlines in ASEAN Regional Integration, are : (1) Very important in supporting the process of regional integration. This is because low- cost carrier airlines are an instrument that is in accordance with the needs of ASEAN that is a way of travelling with low- cost and can connect a lot of destinations point- to point in Southeast Asian Region. (2) The aftermath of LCCs growth in ASEAN will reduce the transportation cost in the region that can trigger the increase of air traffic which also means the growth and change of the market in ASEAN. That create interdependece between countries in ASEAN that support regional integration. (3) In accordance, there will be more interaction between people in ASEAN that will contribute to achieve ASEAN Connectivity. The concept of ASEAN Connectivity would complement and support integration within ASEAN as it is believed that it would benefit all ASEAN Member States through enhanced trade, investment, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and development, which would complement the ongoing regional efforts to realise a people-oriented ASEAN Community by 2015 This thesis will contribute a lot in international relation studies especially in the discussion of Regionalism, Multinational Corporations, and the most important is the Government and Politics of Southeast Asia.
