THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THREE LEARNING FEATURES OF LBPP LIA IN TEACHING ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN OF LB LIA SUKABUMI

Lembaga Bahasa, Lembaga Indonesia Amerika (LB LIA) Sukabumi merupakan salah satu mitra kerjasama Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA yang bertujuan mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa melalui program pengajaran yang tersusun secara profesional. Sebagai LBPP, salah satu kunci untuk mencerdaskan para siswa adalah dengan memiliki guru professional serta memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang baik. Untuk itu, LB LIA menerapkan tiga fitur pembelajaran yang diyakini mampu mendongrak kemampuan berbahasa Inggris siswa. Tujuan dari penulisan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk menjelaskan implementasi tiga fitur pembelajaran LBPP LIA serta pengaruh terhadap siswa dan guru. Selain itu, Penulis mengidentifikasi hambatan serta masalah yang dihadapi saat mengajar siswa/i English for Children (EC) tingkat 2A2 di LB LIA Sukabumi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penulisan tugas akhir ini adalah metode pengumpulan data meliputi metode partisipasi observasi, observasi secara langsung, focus diskusi kelompok, dan metode interview. Metode partisipasi observasi, penulis melakukan observasi tentang sistem pelaksanaan tiga fitur pembelajaran di LB LIA Sukabumi. Metode observasi langsung, penulis menjadi staf guru dan staf kantor. Focus grup diskusi, penulis berdiskusi dengan siswa/i EC tingkat 2A2 mengenai pengaruh tiga fitur pembelajaran. Selain itu, penulis juga mewawancarai staff guru dan manajer LB LIA Sukabumi. Selama 2 bulan program magang dari 31 Januari 2017 sampai 31 Maret 2017 penelitian ini dilakukan di LB LIA Sukabumi. Tiga fitur pembelajaran yang diterapkan oleh LB LIA adalah Fun Learning, Learning How to Learn, Learn More than Just English. Dengan ditetapkannya ketiga fitur tersebut, kemampuan para siswa meningkat baik dari segi Bahasa Inggris maupun sikap dan perilaku. Namun akan lebih baik lagi apabila SDM teknisi dan fasilitas lebih ditingkatkan agar saat proses mengajar tidak terhambat oleh gangguan teknisi.

Lembaga Bahasa, Lembaga Bahasa Indoenesia (LB LIA) Sukabumi is an Institute for Language and Professional Education that aims to educate the nation through teaching programs that are profesionally arranged. As the Institute of Language and Professional Education, one of the keys to educate students is to have a professional teacher who also possesses strong English skills. For that sake, LB LIA applies three learning features that are believed to be able to develop the students' English proficiency. This graduating paper aims to explain the implementation of the three learning features of Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional (LBPP) LIA, and their influences on the students and teachers. In addition, this paper also examines the obstacles and the problems found while teaching English for Children (EC) level 2A2. The methods of study used in the paper include participant observation, direct observation, focus group discussion, and interview. Participant observation was conducted by participating in an internship program as a teacher and an office staff member in LB LIA Sukabumi. Direct observation was conducted by observing the implementation system of the three learning features. The focus group discussion was conducted for EC Students level 2A2 concerning the influences of the three learning features. In addition, the interview was conducted with the teacher, staff and manager of LB LIA Sukabumi. During the 2 month internship program starting from January 31st until March 31st 2017, all research was conducted at LB LIA Sukabumi. The three learning features applied by LB LIA are Fun Learning, Learning How to Learn, Learn More than Just English. With the establishment of these three features, students' abilities improved in English, attitude, and behavior. However, it would be better if the technical human resources and facilities were upgraded to prevent the occurrence of technical problems during the teaching process.
