Katniss Everdeen's Character Development in The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Penelitian ini membahas tentang perkembangan karakter Katniss Everdeen, tokoh protagonis dalam trilogi The Hunger Games karya Suzanne Collins. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengamati dan membuktikan bahwa perkembangan karakter Katniss Everdeen sangat dipengaruhi oleh perebutan kekuasaan sosial ekonomi yang terjadi dalam masyarakat di mana karakter tersebut tinggal. Penelitian ini menerapkan Marxisme sebagai landasan teori agar dapat mencapai objektif secara optimal. Penelitian pustaka adalah metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini, termasuk di dalamnya yakni buku-buku, jurnal-jurnal, maupun artikel-artikel untuk mendukung analisis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan karakter Katniss Everdeen merupakan hasil dari perebutan kekuasaan sosial ekonomi yang terjadi dalam masyarakat, baik oleh kelas-kelas sosial ekonomi maupun oleh dua presiden di Panem.

This research discusses the character development of Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The focus of this research is to observe and prove that the development of Katniss Everdeen’s character is strongly influenced by the socioeconomic power struggle in the society to which this character belongs. In order to reach the objectives optimally, this research applies Marxism as the theoretical framework. The library research is the method used in writing this graduating paper, as well as books, journals, and articles to support the analysis. The result of this research shows that the development of Katniss Everdeen as a character is a product of the socioeconomic power struggle within the society, both coming from the socioeconomic classes and the two presidents in Panem.
