Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah kebutuhan traktor, dengan merekomendasikan traktor yang sesuai serta menghitung keuntungan per tahun traktor rekomendasi di wilayah Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Pengolahan tanah konvensional di daerah tersebut sudah berpindah ke mekanis yaitu menggunakan traktor. Traktor yang terdapat pada penelitian hanya digunakan untuk mengolah lahan yang ditanami padi dan palawija. Analisis penelitian menggunakan metode program linier untuk mengetahui jumlah kebutuhan traktor dan traktor yang direkomendasikan. Analisis dengan metode program linier terdapat fungsi kendala, antara lain waktu efektif pengolahan tanah, luas maksimal yang diolah traktor, kapasitas kerja traktor, jumlah traktor yang sudah ada, dan biaya awal penggunaan traktor. Dalam penelitian ini keuntungan per tahun traktor rekomendasi dihitung dengan memperhatikan biaya operasional yang terdiri dari biaya tetap dan tidak tetap. Jumlah kebutuhan traktor di wilayah Kabupaten Kulon Progo sebanyak 686 unit menggunakan traktor tangan rekomendasi. Traktor rekomendasi yaitu traktor tangan dengan kapasitas kerja 10,24 jam/ha. Keuntungan per tahun traktor rekomendasi sebesar Rp 14.746.100,00.

The purpose of this research is to discover the number of the needs of tractors by sugesting suitable tractors and considering each year profit in Kulon Progo regency. The conventional tillage have evolved to the mechanical one by using tractor. In that area, the tractors are used for tillaging the land that has planted with rice and crops. The additional method used in this research is linear programming to discover the number of the needs of tractors and the tractors that have been sugested. The linear programming method has constrain function such as the effective time of tillage, maximum area cultivated by tractor, the work capacity of tractor, the number of available tractor and the early cost of the tractor. In this research, the profit of the suggested tractors is calculated to discover the each year profit, the each year profit is calculate by taking into the operational cost consisting of fixed costs and variable costs. The number on the needs of tractors in Kulon Progo regency are 686 units of tractors that had been suggested. The tractors that had been suggested is hand tractor with 10,24 hour/ha work capacity. The each year profit of the suggested tractor is Rp 14.746.100,00.
