AKTIVITAS WHALING DALAM FILM IN THE HEART OF THE SEA DITINJAU DARI SEGI ETIKA LINGKUNGAN HIDUP EKOSENTRISME

Film In the Heart of the Sea memaparkan segala kerusakan alam yang terjadi akibat aktivitas whaling, eksploitasi besar-besaran pada paus yang bersumber pada kesalahan cara pandang manusia dari etika Antroposentrisme. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan problema yang muncul dari aktivitas whaling dalam film In the Heart of the Sea, memaparkan inti dari teori etika lingkungan hidup Ekosentrisme, serta merumuskan tinjauan pemikiran teori etika lingkungan hidup Ekosentrisme terhadap aktivitas whaling dalam film In the Heart of the Sea. Penelitian ini menggunakan model kualitatif bidang filsafat. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka yang dilengkapi dengan observasi terhadap film In the Heart of the Sea. Bahan penelitian yang berasal dari buku, jurnal, artikel, dan laporan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan aktivitas whaling maupun film In the Heart of the Sea digunakan sebagai bahan pokok. Analisis hasil penelitian ini menggunakan verstehen, interpretasi, hermeneutika, induktif, dan heuristik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan lingkungan hidup tidak hanya merugikan manusia tetapi juga makhluk hidup lain. Ekosentrisme merupakan teori etika lingkungan hidup yang memperhatikan moralitas ekosistem keseluruhan. Aktivitas whaling dalam film In the Heart of the Sea memaparkan problema bahwa sikap destruktif manusia berasal dari kerusakan internal dirinya, paus terancam punah, adanya ketidakstabilan rantai makanan dalam ekosistem laut, dan ancaman timbulnya hujan asam. Ekosentrisme melalui Deep Ecology memiliki konsep yang kaya berupa prinsip dan platform yang dapat dijadikan hasil analisis dalam mengubah pola pikir manusia seperti dalam film In the Heart of the Sea dari Antroposentris menjadi lebih peduli terhadap lingkungan hidup untuk menciptakan kehidupan yang selaras dan berkesinambungan dengan alam.

In the Heart of the Sea movie depicts various natural damage that were caused from whaling activity, the massive exploitation on whale because human behaviour influenced by Anthropocentrism. This research was intends to formulated the problems from whaling activity on In The Heart of The Sea movie, presented the essence of Ecocentrism, and reflected critical thought and application of Ecocentrism based on In The Heart of The Sea movie. This research processed with qualitative methods of philosophy through the library research that comes with observation from In The Heart of The Sea movie. Research material derived from books, journals, articles, and research reports related to the whaling activity is used as a staple. Data were analyzed with using verstehen, interpretation, hermeneutics, inductive, and heuristics. This research shown that damage to the environment not only for humans but also to others. Ecocentrism was an environmental theory that focus on the entire biological communities. Whaling activity on In The Heart of The Sea movie exposed problems that was destructive attitude of human comes from the internal damage, whales became an endangered species, the instability of the food chain in marine ecosystems, and the threat of the onset of acid rain. Deep Ecology had a rich concept of principles and platforms that were referable in changing the mindset of man as on In The Heart of The Sea movie from Anthropocentric view to be more aware and care regarding to environment to create a harmonious and sustainable life with nature.
