Kemampuan Inhibisi pada Anak ADHD dan Non-ADHD Usia 6-12 Tahun

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) merupakan sebuah ganggguan neurodevelopmental yang mulai muncul pada masa anak-anak. Gangguan ini disebabkan terhambatnya perkembangan prefrontal cortex (PFC) yang mempengaruhi kemampuan fungsi eksekutif, terutama fungsi inhibisi sehingga membuat seseorang tidak mampu melakukan kontrol terhadap kognitif dan perilakunya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan inhibisi pada anak ADHD dengan anak non-ADHD, dan melihat perbedaan kemampuan inhibisi pada ketiga subtipe ADHD pada anak berusia 6 sampai 12 tahun. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah anak ADHD (N=34) yang terdiri dari subtipe inatensi (N=14), hiperaktif (N=9), kombinasi (N=11), dan anak non-ADHD (N=34). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode causal-comparative. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Stroop Colour and Word Test untuk mengukur kemampuan inhibisi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan inhibisi antaran anak ADHD dan anak non-ADHD serta antara anak dengan kelompok usia 6-9 tahun dengan anak berusia 10-12 tahun. Namun, tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan inhibisi antara ketiga subtipe ADHD.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins to emerge in childhood. This disorder is caused by impaired development of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) that affects executive functions, particularly the function of inhibition resulting in loss of cognitive and behavior control. This research aims to investigate the difference on inhibition in ADHD and non-ADHD children aged 6-12 years old and also between the three subtypes of ADHD. Subjects in this study were children with ADHD (N=34) which consists of inattentive type (N=14), hyperactive-impulsive type (N=9), and combination type (N=11), and also non-ADHD children (N=34). This research used causal-comparative method. The instrument which is used in this research is The Stroop Color and Word test to measure inhibition. The result of this research are there are differences on inhibition between ADHD and non-ADHD children and between age 6-9 years and 10-12 years old children. However, there is no difference on inhibition between three subtypes of ADHD.
