Peran Kepemimpinan Diri terhadap Empati Guru dengan Kesejahteraan Sekolah sebagai Mediator

Empati adalah kemampuan seseorang dalam mengidentifikasi dan memahami secara intelektual kondisi perasaan dan pikiran orang lain dan meresponnya dengan tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kepemimpinan diri terhadap empati guru dengan kesejahteraan sekolah sebagai mediator. Subjek dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pada guru kelas (I �¢ï¿½ï¿½ VI) SD Negeri di Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membagikan tiga skala yaitu skala empati, kepemimpinan diri dan kesejahteraan sekolah. Sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah stratified random sampling. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan metode path analysis dengan bantuan program LISREL 9.2 for Students. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) kepemimpinan diri berperan positif langsung terhadap empati guru secara signifikan dengan koefisien jalur sebesar c = 0, 431 dan p<0,001; 2) kesejahteraan sekolah berperan positif langsung terhadap empati guru secara signifikan dengan koefisien jalur sebesar b = 0,162 dan p<0,001; 3) kepemimpinan diri berperan positif terhadap kesejahteraan sekolah dengan koefisien jalur sebesar a = 0,755 dan p<0,001; 4) kesejahteraan sekolah tidak dapat menjelaskan peran kepemimpinan diri terhadap empati guru. Temuan lain dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor usia, lama mengajar, dan status kerja guru dapat mempengaruhi tinggi rendahnya empati guru.

Empathy is defined as the ability to identify and understand intellectually about conditions of feelings and thoughts of others and respond them appropriately. This study was aimed to determining the role of self-leadership towards empathy, with the school well-being as a mediator. Subjects in this study were classroom teachers of 1st to 6th grade of elementary school in the Muaro Jambi district area. The data collection was done by distributing three scales which are scale of empathy, scale of self-leadership and scale of school well-being. The stratified random sampling is used to collect the sample of this study. The data was analyzed using path analysis, using program LISREL 9.2 for Students. The results showed that: 1) a direct positive self-leadership role towards empathy of teachers significantly with path coefficient of c= .431 and p <.001; 2) the school well-being have a positive role directly towards the empathy of teachers significantly with path coefficient of b = .162 and p <.001; 3) the self-leadership have a positive role towards the school well-being with a path coefficient of a = .755 and p <.001; 4) the school well-being cannot explain the role of self-leadership in the empathy of teachers. This study also indicates that age, length of service, and employment status can affect the teachers�¢ï¿½ï¿½ level of empathy.
