Short fiber reinforced composite was introduced as composite restorative material that was used as filling base material for posterior restoration. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of flowable composite resin and short fiber reinforced composite as intermediate layer on microleakage of class II cavity bulk fill packable composite resin restoration. This study uses 27 maxillary premolars prepared as class II cavity, 4 mm buko-lingual width, 4 mm mesio-distal length, and 4 mm. Specimens of the study were divided into 3 groups: group I cavities were restored with bulkfill packable composite resin without intermediate layer, group II cavities were restored with flowable composite resin as intermediate layer, and group III cavities were restored with short fiber reinforced composite as intermediate layer. Data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis test (α = 0.05) and Mann Whitney test (α = 0.05). The result shows that there was an effect of flowable composite resin and short fiber reinforced composite restoration as intermediate layer (p <0.05). There was a significant difference between the group without intermediate layer and the group with flowable composite resin and short fiber reinforced composite as intermediate layer. But there was no significant difference between the groups with flowable composite resin and short fiber reinforced composite as intermediate layer. In this study it can be concluded that the microleakage of class II cavity bulk fill packable composite resin restorations with flowable composite resin and short fiber reinforced composite as intermediate layer was smaller than without intermediate layer.
