PERBANDINGAN KEKUATAN GESER PELEKATAN RESIN KOMPOSIT SELF CURED DAN LIGHT CURED PADA BRAKET LOGAM DAUR ULANG

Penggunaan braket daur ulang seringkali menjadi pilihan dengan alasan penghematan biaya, akan tetapi kekuatan pelekatan braket logam daur ulang sudah berkurang sehingga diperlukan bahan adhesif yang mampu menahan braket logam daur ulang agar stabil di posisinya dan tidak mudah terlepas lagi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan besar kekuatan geser pelekatan resin komposit self cured dan light cured pada braket logam daur ulang, serta terhadap letak kegagalan pelekatan. Penelitian dilakukan pada 32 braket Edgewise daur ulang yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, kelompok I (direbonding dengan bahan adhesif self cured) dan kelompok II (direbonding dengan bahan adhesif light cured). Braket didaur ulang dengan cara pembakaran. Setelah braket daur ulang dilekatkan pada gigi premolar, dilakukan perendaman dalam saliva buatan selama 24 jam dan dilakukan uji kekuatan geser dengan Universal Testing Machine. Uji ARI (Adhesive Remnant Index) dilakukan untuk mengetahui letak kegagalan pelekatan resin komposit self cured dan light cured pada braket logam daur ulang. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah independent t-test dan Chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata kekuatan geser pelekatan resin komposit self cured lebih besar daripada light cured pada braket logam daur ulang (p < 0,05) sedangkan untuk uji ARI terdapat perbedaan lokasi kegagalan pelekatan antara kedua kelompok (p < 0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu kekuatan geser pelekatan resin komposit self cured lebih besar dibandingkan light cured pada braket logam daur ulang dan letak kegagalan pelekatan resin komposit self cured terjadi diantara bahan adhesif dengan permukaan email dan mesh braket sedangkan letak kegagalan pelekatan resin komposit light cured terjadi diantara bahan adhesif dan mesh braket.

Recycling orthodontic brackets become an option for practitioners, where brackets needed to rebonded back onto a tooth. The major advantage of recycling is the economic saving but there is a reduction on the bond strength of the recycled bracket so the best adhesive material is needed to produce the acceptable bond strength. The aim of this research was to determine the shear bond strength between recycled metal bracket bonded by self cured composite resin and light cured composite resin. This study was conducted on 32 recycled premolar Edgewise metal brackets, divided into two groups which were group I (bonded by self cured composite resin) and group II (bonded by light cured composite resin). Those brackets were recycled by direct flamming method. After recycled brackets were bonded to premolars, they were soaked in artificial saliva for 24 hours. Shear bond strength measurements were performed by Universal Testing Machine. ARI (Adhesive Remnant Index) test were performed to find out the location of bracket attachment failure. The statistical analysis performed were Independent t-test and Chi-square. The result showed the mean of shear bond strength of recycled brackets in the self cured group is greater than the light cured group (p < 0.05). The ARI test showed there were significantly difference at the location of recycled brackets attachment failure between the two groups (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is the shear bond strength of recycled bracket in the self cured group is greater than the light cured group. The bonding failured of the self cured group occurred at the enamel-adhesive interface and bracket-adhesive interface meanwhile the bonding failured of the light cured group occurred at the bracket-adhesive interface.
