GENERALIZATION OF CONSTANT MARKET SHARES ANALYSIS: COMPOSITION AND PARTITION APPROACHES

Walaupun analisis Constant Market Shares (CMS) telah berkembang menjadi alat analisis untuk menganalisis performa ekspor sebuah negara di antara dua titik waktu, masih terdapat permasalahan mendasar di dalam model tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi dan menjawab permasalahan tersebut dengan menyusun ssebuah model Generalized CMS. Model ini dapat memberikan analisis yang lebih detail dan komprehensif, serta fleksibel, karena dapat menangkap semua kemungkinan variasi yang terbentuk dari dua titik waktu dalam CMS, yang disebut sebagai primary observation.

Even though Constant Market Shares (CMS) analysis is already established as an analytical tool to analyze one or more country export performances, it still has several fundamental problems within the method of analysis. In this research, we try to provide a solution of those weaknesses by constructing a Generalized CMS equation. By this model, we can construct a more precise and flexible CMS, which is able to capture all possible variation of equation within the two distinct points, called primary observation within CMS analysis.
