MANTRA SAPATHA DALAM PRASASTI TUHANYARU: KAJIAN STRUKTUR DAN METAFORA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur, metafora, dan fungsi mantra sapatha dalam prasasti Tuhanyaru. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah mantra sapatha yang terdapat di dalam teks prasasti Tuhanyaru. Dalam penelitian ini, mantra sapatha diklasifikasikan berdasarkan strukturnya. Disamping itu, sapatha dalam prasasti Tuhanyaru juga diuraikan unsur metaforanya. Berdasarkan strukturnya, mantra sapatha dalam prasasti Tuhanyaru terdiri dari unsur sugesti, unsur tujuan, dan unsur penutup. Dalam kajian metafora berdasarkan medan semantiknya, mantra sapatha dalam prasasti Tuhanyaru dikelompokkan dalam 6 kelompok. Kelompok tersebut antara lain metafora ke-ada-an (being), metafora tenaga (energy), metafora permukaan bumi (terrestrial), metafora benda mati (object), metafora kehidupan (living), dan metafora binatang (animate). Tiga kelompok yang tidak didapati dalam mantra sapatha ini adalah metafora kosmos (cosmos), metafora substansi (substance) dan metafora manusia (human). Ditinjau dari fungsinya, mantra sapatha ini berperan sebagai peringatan agar masyarakat Jawa Kuno tidak melanggar ketentuan yang telah disebutkan dalam prasasti Tuhanyaru. Sebagai legitimasi dari keberadaan kekuatan gaib, Dewa-Dewa Hindu, makhluk mitologi Hindu, orang-orang yang berkedudukan penting dalam Hindu, dan kekuatan-kekuatan gaib sebagai kepercayaan lokal masyarakat setempat disebut sebagai saksi dalam mantra sapatha.

The purpose of this research is aimed to describe the structure, metaphor, and function of sapatha spell in the Tuhanyaru inscriptions. The data used is sapatha contained in the text of the Tuhanyaru inscription. In this study, the sapatha spells are classified by its structure. In addition, the elements of metaphor of the sapatha in the Tuhanyaru inscription will also be described in this research. Based on its structure, the sapatha spells in the Tuhanyaru inscriptions consist of-the suggestion element, the purpose element, and the closing elements. Meanwhile for the study of metaphor based on its semantic field, the sapatha spells in the Tuhanyaru inscriptions are classified into 6 groups. The groups, among others, are: the metaphor of being, the metaphor of energy, the metaphor of terrestrial, the metaphor of object, the metaphor of living, and the metaphor of animate. The three groups that are not found in this sapatha spell are the metaphor of cosmos, the metaphor of substance, and the metaphor of human. In term of its function, the sapatha spell serves as a warning to the ancient Javanese society so they would not violate the provisions mentioned in the Tuhanyaru inscriptions. Hindu Gods, Hindu mythological creatures, people with important stature in Hindu, and supernatural powers as local believe of the indigenous people is called as witnesses in the sapatha spell intended as the legitimacy of the supernatural powers.
