PERAN HUMAS TNI AD DALAM MENGHADAPI OPINI PUBLIK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETAHANAN LEMBAGA (Studi Kasus Pemberitaan Media Tentang Bentrok TNI AD-Polri di Batam Kepri)

Peran Humas menjadi sangat penting ketika lembaga/ institusi mengalami suatu krisis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui peran humas TNI AD dalam mengelola opini publik terkait pemberitaan media tentang peristiwa bentrok TNI-Polri di Batam, Kepri dan bagaimana strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan dalam menghadapi opini publik untuk menguatkan ketahanan lembaga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi eksternal yang dilakukan oleh Humas TNI AD bertipologi reactive dalam mengelola krisis saat itu. Strategi komunikasi Humas TNI AD perlu lebih dioptimalkan dalam menghadapi opini publik melalui analisa dan pengemasan informasi/ berita tentang peristiwa bentrok anggota TNI AD-Polri di Batam untuk meningkatkan ketahanan lembaga TNI AD.

The role of public relations is particularly important when agencies/ institutions experiencing a crisis. The purpose of this research is to know the role of public relations in managing the public opinion related to the media publication to the issue of the brawl between members of the army and police in Batam and how the communication strategy ongoing in handling the crisis. This research used a qualitative-descriptive, the techniques of data collection used observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings showed that the external communication strategy undertaken by the Army Public Relations is reactive typology in managing the crisis at that time. The communication strategy of the army public affairs needs to be optimized in facing on public opinion through a deeper analysis and packaging information/ news about the brawl of the army and police members in Batam in order to strengthen the resilience of the army institution.
