GROWTH OF Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre SEEDLING WITH ORGANIC POT FERTILIZER APPLICATION IN COAL MINE LAND

This study aims to accelerate the reclamation process by the use of suitable species (Pongamia pinnata) and the application of fertilizer to support plant growth in the form of organic pots. The study was conducted in the greenhouse of Intensive Silviculture Laboratorium, Faculty of Forestry UGM, using 5-months old Pongamia seedlings collected from Banyuwangi. Research has applied factorial completely randomized design with two treatments, i.e. media of coal mine soils and organic pots. Media treatments were soil from secondary forest land (M1) and from post-mining land ready for planting (M2), while the organic pot were leaf (P1), cow manure (P2), and chicken manure organic pot (P3). The parameters to observe were in height and diameter growth, biomass, T/R ratio, chlorophyll content and soil chemical analysis before and after treatments including pH, organic C, Ntotal, P2O5-available, and aluminum ( ). The results showed that the application of media and organic potting improved Pongamia pinnata seedlings growth as well as quality of soil chemical properties. The plant height and diameter growth in secondary forest media (M1) were 14.7% and 9.9% higher than those in media from post-mining land ready for planting (M2). The application of leaf organic pot (P1) on all media soil highly increased the pH, P-available, and the amount of chlorophyll which then enhanced the growth, biomass, and T/R ration. The next higher growth was found in plants treated with manure organic pot (P2) and then chicken manure organic pot (P3).
Penambangan batubara secara terbuka dapat menyebabkan rusaknya kondisi tanah secara fisik, kimia, dan biologi yang berdampak buruk pada pertumbuhan tanaman dalam tahap revegetasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membantu mempercepat proses reklamasi dengan pemilihan jenis yang tepat (Pongamia pinnata) dan aplikasi pupuk pendukung pertumbuhan berupa pot organik. Penelitian dilakukan di rumah kaca Laboratorium Silvikultur Intensif Fakultas Kehutanan UGM dengan menggunakan anakan Pongamia berumur 5 bulan yang dikoleksi dari Banyuwangi. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial dengan perlakuan media tanah tambang batubara dan pot organik. Media tanah berupa tanah hutan sekunder (M1) dan tanah siap tanam pascatambang (M2), sementara pot organik terdiri dari pot berbahan daun (P1), kotoran sapi (P2), dan kotoran ayam (P3). Parameter pengamatan yang dilakukan berupa pertumbuhan tinggi dan diameter, biomassa, rasio T/R, jumlah klorofil serta analisis sifat kimia tanah sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan yaitu nilai pH, C-organik, N-total, P2O5- tersedia, dan aluminium ( ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan media tanah dan pot organik meningkatkan pertumbuhan semai Pongamia pinnata dan kualitas sifat kimia tanah. Perlakuan media tanah hutan sekunder (M1) meningkatkan pertumbuhan tinggi dan diameter lebih baik dibandingkan dengan media tanah siap tanam pascatambang (M2) sebesar 14,7% dan 9,9%. Perlakuan pot organik daun (P1) pada semua media tanah dapat meningkatkan pH, P-tersedia, dan jumlah klorofil paling tinggi sehingga meningkatkan pertumbuhan, biomassa, dan rasio T/R. Pertumbuhan tertinggi selanjutnya terdapat pada tanaman dengan perlakuan pot organik kotoran sapi (P2) dan pot organik kotoran ayam (P3)
