Terms of Address Showing Disrespect in "Orange Is the New Black"

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa istilah-istilah sapaan yang menunjukkan ketidaksopanan dalam sebuah serial televisi yang berjudul Orange Is the New Black. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah istilah-istilah sapaan yang menunjukkan ketidaksopanan yang ditemukan dalam episode satu sampai delapan dimusim pertama serial televisi tersebut. 107 istilah-istilah sapaan ditemukan tidak sopan dan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan kategori-kategori penghinaan yang diajukan oleh Keith Allan dan Kate Burridge (2006) dan Leslie Dunkling (1990). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan orang dengan binatang (43%) adalah kategori penghinaan yang paling sering digunakan dalam serial televisi ini dan orang-orang Spanyol merupakan pembicara-pembicara yang paling sering menggunakan istilah-istilah sapaan yang tidak sopan (10 kata menunjukkan istilah-istilah sapaan yang tidak sopan dari setiap 1000 kata yang diucapkan).

This research aims at analyzing the terms of address showing disrespect in a television series entitled Orange Is the New Black. The data used in this research are the terms of address showing disrespect found in the episodes one until eight of the season one of the television series. 107 terms of address are found disrespectful and then were analyzed using the categories of insults proposed by Keith Allan and Kate Burridge (2006) and Leslie Dunkling (1990). The results of this research show that the comparison of people with animals is the most used category of insults in the television series (43%) and the Hispanics are the speakers who express the disrespect address terms the most (10 words express the disrespect address terms per 1000 words they produce).
