Koran sebagai bagian dari media massa, sarana hiburan dan penyedia informasi. Berita langsung merupakan bagian dari beberapa halaman yang terdapat pada koran. Laporan ini membahas tentang bagaimana aktivitas meliput berita dan hasil berita, yang ditulis bahkan berhasil untuk diterbitkan di koran Republika wilayah Yogyakarta, untuk dikonsumsi masyarakat luas. Menurut Ashadi Siregar, dkk dalam bukunya Bagaimana Meliput dan Menulis Berita untuk Media Massa, media cetak diterbitkan untuk dibaca orang lain. Menulis berita untuk media cetak berarti menulis bagi orang lain, yaitu pembaca. Surat kabar atau majalah berita diterbitkan berdasarkan alasan logis seperti itu, yakni bahwa berita yang dimuat cocok bagi pembaca. Berita disebut cocok bagi pembaca jika informasi yang diberitakan penting atau menarik bagi pembaca. Kalau tidak, pembaca akan berpaling ke media cetak lain, atau bahkan memilih menjadi pemirsa media elektronik. Peliputan berita dilakukan oleh wartawan berdasarkan dari berita agenda, fenomena, momentum, dan ide wartawan, ketika redaktur tidak memberikan tugas kepada wartawan. Kreativitas wartawan sangat diuji ketika proses peliputan berita, wartawan masih harus mendapatkan kendala-kendala dalam peliputan. Berita hasil peliputan ditulis menjadi empat bagian, yaitu judul, teras berita, tubuh berita, dan penutup. Judul dan teras berita adalah bagian berita yang harus paling menarik untuk dibaca. Tubuh berita adalah penjelasan dari semua fakta 5W+1H tentang peristiwa. Penutup adalah akhir dari penjelasan peristiwa, bahwa sudah tidak ada lagi yang belum diketahui oleh pembaca tentang peristiwa tersebut.

The newspaper as part of mass media, means of entertainment and information provider. Hard news is part of several pages of the newspaper. This report discusses how the activity covers news and produce news, written even managed to be published in the newspaper Republika region of Yogyakarta, for public consumption. Otherwise, readers will turn to other print media, or even choose to become electronic media viewers. News coverage done by journalists of the news that had already entered the coverage task list, phenomena, the momentum, and the idea of journalists, especially when the editor does not give the task to reporters. Creativity of journalists very tested when the news coverage, journalists still have to get the constraints in the coverage. News coverage results are written into four sections, namely title, the terrace of the news, the body of the news and the closing. Title and the terrace of the news is news section that should be most interesting to read. The body of the news is an explanation of all the facts about 1H+5W. The closing is the end of the description of events, that no longer exist are not known by readers about such events.
