2016 | Skripsi | S1 FARMASIEkstrak etanolik rimpang temu putih [Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak tingkat stabilitas krim semakin rendah.
Ethanolic extract of white turmeric's rhizome [Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe] is composed of conjugated double bond flavonoid compound so that it is predicted to have a sunscreen activity. This research aims to find the physical stability of ethanolic extract of white turmeric's rhizome cream and its activity as a sunscreen. The base formulation is done by Design Expert®versi 9.0.6.2 software to obtain the optimum base formulation. The cream is made by adding the variation of extract concentration to the optimum base obtained. The method which is used to test the cream's stability are viscosity, adhesive, dispersion, and mechanical test. Cream's activity is determined with in vitro spectrophotometry method. The sample's absorption is measured every 5 nm on 290-320 nm wavelength, analyzed by Mansur equation, and finally the result is stated by SPF number. The data analysis is done descriptively and the statistic analysis utilizes SPSS 16.0 software with 95% confidence level. The result of the experiment shows that the higher concentration of extract will give stronger protection from ultraviolet light radiation. Cream with 7%, 14%, dan 21% of extract have 2,860; 5,691; 11,148 SPF. The cream with good physical stability is the cream with the 7% extract as the gel's viscosity, adhesivity and spreadibility are almost constant and remains stable after it is given mechanical test for 5 hours on 3750 rpm. Higher extract concentration will result in lower cream's stability. Ethanolic extract of white turmeric's rhizome [Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.)
