Tugas akhir ini menganalisis tentang serangkaian masa orientasi bagi mahasiswa asing yang akan belajar di Universitas Gadjah Mada. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya bagi mahasiwa asing untuk mengetahui informasi-informasi terkait dengan ijin belajar, ijin tinggal, perpanjangan visa, fasilitas di fakultas maupun universitas dan lingkungan sekitar kampus. Informasi diperoleh dari observasi secara langsung maupun tidak langsung di Kantor Urusan Internasional UGM. Selain hal tersebut, untuk menunjang hasil hasil observasi penulis, juga dilakukan wawancara dengan beberapa staff di Kantor Urusan Internasional UGM dan mahasiswa asing baru semester ganjil periode Februari 2016. Tugas akhir ini juga menggunakan penelitian pustaka untuk mendapatkan data dan informasi tentang bahan diskusi dan diambil dari beberapa buku, jurnal, dan internet. Data yang disajikan berupa data kualitatif yang telah dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan dengan bentuk deskripsi pada setiap runtutan event. Dari pengamatan tersebut diperoleh hasil bahwa International Students Orientation (ISO) merupakan event tahunan oleh KUI UGM yang tujuan secara keseluruhan adalah untuk membantu dan memberi informasi kepada mahasiswa asing dan mendorong untuk terbiasa dengan lingkungan universitas. Pada setiap rangkaian event terdapat kegiatan yang berbeda dan melibatkan beberapa pihak sepertii dinas keimigrasian, aparat kepolisian dan buddy club UGM. Walaupun respon dan pendapat mahasiswa asing menyatakan bahwa ISO sangat membantu mereka dalam urusan keimigrasian dan pengenalan lingkungan, namun masih banyak mahasiswa asing yang tidak dapat mengikuti serangkaian ISO. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk dapat mengatasi permasalahan ketidakhadiran mahasiswa asing di ISO, maka ada baiknya jika ISO diadakan dua kali dalam satu semester agar mahasiswa asing tidak lagi kekurangan informasi yang dibutuhkan.

This paper analyzes the orientation for foreign students who will study at the University of Gadjah Mada. This is motivated by the goals of Office of International Affairs to help the foreign students to find information related to their study permit, stay permit, visa extension, faculty and university facilities and campus environment. The information was obtained from direct or indirect observation in the Office of International Affairs UGM. In addition, to support the results of the observation, the writer also conducted interviews with some of the staff in the Office of International Affairs UGM and foreign students the first semester of the period of February 2016. This final paper also used library research to obtain data and information on subject of discussion which was taken from some books, journals, and internet.The data were presented in the form of qualitative data that have been collected through observation of the form description for each sequence of event. From these observations showed that the International Students Orientation (ISO) is an annual event held by OIA UGM that the overall goal is to assist and provide information for foreign students and encourage to become familiar with the university environment. In any sequence of event there were series of different activities that involving multiple parties such as immigration officers, police and buddy club UGM. Although the responses and opinions of foreign students stated that ISO helped them regarding to immigration matters and the introduction of the environment, but there were still a lot of foreign students who could not attend ISO. It can be concluded that in order to overcome the problem of the absence of foreign students in the ISO, so it will be better if ISO could be conducted twice per semester so that foreign students are no longer lack about the information needed.
