Gerbang merupakan salah satu pengaman bagi suatu rumah. Pergerakan suatu gerbang dapat dilakukan dengan manual yakni dengan mengerahkan tenaga manusia untuk membukanya. Akan tetapi pada zaman sekarang ini pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi (IPTEK) sangatlah pesat, terutama di bidang teknik elektro yang dapat mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat untuk berpikiran praktis dan modern. Sehingga banyak pembuatan peralatan-peralatan serba otomatis, contohnya otomatisasi gerbang. Selain untuk meringankan kerja manusia, diharapkan memiliki nilai lebih daripada hanya untuk meringankan kerja manusia. Nilai lebih itu antara lain adalah kemampuan alat tersebut untuk lebih menghemat tenaga dan waktu. Pada pembuatan tugas akhir ini, untuk membuat sebuah sistem kendali gerbang maka dibutuhkan penggerak berupa motor dc. Motor DC dapat dikendalikan oleh mikrokontroler yakni arduino dengan menggunakan driver motor. Pada sistem kendali gerbang ini dilengkapi dengan sebuah sensor ultrasonik yang digunakan sebagai proteksi tambahan saat ada objek yang melintas ketika gerbang sedang beroperasi. Untuk membuka dan menutup gerbang dapat dikendalikan menggunakan teknologi masa kini yaitu telepon pintar. 1Sheeld digunakan sebagai modul komunikasi antara telepon pintar dan mikrokontroler untuk dapat memerintah gerak gerbang. Gates is one of the security for a home. The movement of a gate can be done manually by deploying manpower to open it. However in recent times the development of science and technology (Science and Technology) is very fast, especially in the field of electrical engineering that can affect people's lives for the practical minded and modern. So a lot of the manufacturing equipment is completely automated, for example, gate automation. In addition to ease human labor, is expected to have more value than just to ease human labor. More value it among others is the ability of these tools to save the energy and time. In making this final task, to create a gate control system then takes the form of a dc motor drive. DC motors can be controlled by the microcontroller arduino using motor driver. At the gate control system is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor that is used as an additional protection when there are objects that pass when the gate is in operation. To open and close the gate can be controlled using today's technology, namely smart phone. 1Sheeld used as a module of communication between the smart phone and the microcontroller to be able to govern the motion of the gate.
