Penelitian ini berjudul: Perilaku Politik Elite Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah di Kota Padang Pasca Orde Baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui variasi afiliasi politik elite Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah di Kota Padang dan untuk mengetahui motivasi actor di balik variasi afiliasi politik elite Tarbiyah tersebut. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: Terbentuknya variasi afiliasi politik elite Tarbiyah disebabkan oleh statment politik Tarbiyah pada masa Orde Baru untuk bergabung dan bekerjasama dengan Golongan Karya (Golkar). Implikasinya adalah banyaknya elite-elite Tarbiyah yang menjadi fungsionaris Golkar. Pasca Orde Baru, elite-elite Tarbiyah yang sudah lama mengabdikan diri ke Golkar tetap menganggap bahwa Golkar adalah satu-satunya saluran politik bagi elite dan warga Tarbiyah, walaupun dalam hal ini Tarbiyah telah mendeklarasikan diri menjadi organisasi yang independen dan tidak berafiliasi dengan partai politik manapun. Sehingga prilaku politik elite Tarbiyah cenderung pragmatis yang mengintegrasikan diri dengan penguasa Disisi lain keterlibatan sebagian elite Tarbiyah dalam partai politik mendapat reaksi negatif dari elite-elite non partisan yang terdiri dari akademisi, mereka beranggapan bahwa keterlibatan elite-elite Tarbiyah tidak strategis; mengingat akan membawa dampak kepada organisasi, adanya tarik menarik masa akan dapat menyeret Tarbiyah dalam persoalan politik praktis, yang akan menyebabkan Tarbiyah kehilangan jati dirinya sebagai salah satu organsiasi sosial keagamaan yang bergerak di pendidikan, sosial dan dakwah. Sementara motivasi elite Tarbiyah yang terlibat dalam politik praktis adalah: adanya kalkulasi politik, dimana ada motivasi financial dan motivasi untuk membangun jaringan guna memperlancar usaha yang mereka lakukan. Selanjutnya budaya politik, adanya sikap dari warga Tarbiyah yang taat pada pimpinan, kondisi ini membuat elite-elite Tarbiyah dengan mudah mendapat dukungan dari warganya.Terakhir adanya mobilisasi ritual yang dilakukan oleh elite-elite Tarbiyah dalam mencari dukungan masa, adanya budaya sungkeman yang dilakukan oleh elite Tarbiyah kepada beberapa Sjekh untuk mendapatkan restu mewakili Tarbiyah di pentas politik.

The research had title: The Political Behavior of the Elite of The United of Tarbiyah Islamiyah in Padang. Port New Age. The objectives of the research was to knowing the political affiliation variation of the elite of the United of Tarbiyah Islamiyah in Padang and to knowing the motivation of the actor behind the variation of political affiliation of that elite. From the result could be concluded that: The establishment of political affiliation variation of the Tarbiyah elite was caused by the political statement of Tarbiyah in New Age to joint and cooperated with Golongan Karya (Golkar). The implication was; many of elite of Tarbiyah be Golkar functionaries. In Post New Age, the elite of Tarbiyah that than had been long dedicated their self to Golkar still considered that Golkar is the only political channel for elites and members of Tarbiyah, though in this case Tarbiyah had declarated by their self be independent organization and not affiliated to any political parties. So, the behavior of the elite of Tarbiyah tend pragmatic by integrated their to the authority. In other hand, the involvement of the elite of Tarbiyah in the political parties get negative reaction from the non partisan elite which consist of academist, they considered that the involvement of the elite of Tarbiyah was not strategic; considering would had impact to the organization, the mass involvement cused Tarbiyah loss of its self identity as one religious social organization that operated in edocation, social and da’wah (misionize) Whilst, the motivation of the elite of Tarbiyah which involved in practical politics was: political calculation, wherein there is financial motivation and motivation to build network for their business fluency. Then, political culture, the attitude of Tarbiyah members that by to the leaders, this condition made the elite of Tarbiyah easly get the support from their members. Add by, ritual mobilization which performed by elite of Tarbiyah in order to get mass support, respect-present culture to get approval for Tarbiyah in political affairs.
