Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui konflik kekuasaan yang terjadi di organisasi Nahdlatul Wathan yang berakhir dengan kekerasan sehingga menimbulkan korban jiwa, luka-luka dan puluhan rumah terbakar. Sedangkan yang bertikai adalah Hajjah Siti Rauhun (kakak) dengan Hajjah Siti Raihanun (adik), pertikaian keluarga di tingkat elit ini terjadi setelah almarhum TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid wafat pada tahun 1998. pertikaian antara dua saudara ini diikuti oleh massa dari dua saudara tersebut yang notabenenya adalah warga NW yang sebelumnya bersatu. Fokus penelitian ini adalah konflik kekuasaan di tubuh organisasi NW yang diikuti oleh massa dari kedua kubu yang bertikai. Pemilihan ketua umum PBNW merupakan salah satu sarana untuk mencapai puncak kekuasaan di tubuh NW, persaingan di antara dua saudara yaitu kubu Rauhun dengan kubu Raihanun untuk menduduki puncak kekuasaan di tubuh NW membuat persaingan ini menjadi panas sehingga berakibat ketingkat bawah, menurut Weber konflik tidak hanya terjadi hanya karena ketimpangan sumber daya ekonomi atau produksi sebagaimana Marx tapi konflik bisa disebabkan karena perebutan kekuasaan (Sanderson, 2000: 17). Sedangkan Maurice Duverger mengklasifikasikan penyebab terjadinya antagoniosme politik menjadi dua yaitu faktor yang bekerja di tingkat individu berupa bakat alami yang dimiliki oleh seseorang sejak lahir, kecendrungan-kecendrungan psikologis dan faktor yang bekerja di tingkat sosial(Duverger, 2002: 159). Untuk memperoleh data tentang konflik, penulis melakukan penelitian dengan metode kualitatif sebagai basis metodologis serta menggunakan depth interview terhadap tokoh NW dari kedua kubu yang beseberangan, observasi dilapangan karena penulis meneliti setelah terjadi pertikaian berupa bentrokan fisik dari dua kubu yang bertikai dan dokumentasi di lokasi konflik sebagai alat penelitian untuk memperoleh data yang valid dan akurat. Tentunya, mekanisme yang penulis lakukan dalam wawncara tersebut adalah menggunakan tehnik purposive sampling untuk memperoleh data-data yang akurat. Dari hasil penelitian yang penulis temukan di lapangan yaitu: pertama, konflik di organisasi NW adalah konflik perebutan kekuasaan diantara elit NW yang diikuti oleh massa karena pembelaan terhadap keyakinan massa bahwa kubu ini yang benar sedangkan kubu lain yang salah; kedua konflik ini murni antara elit dan massa dari NW sendiri tidak ada indikasi yang mengarah kepada fihak lain di luar NW ; ketiga, adanya upaya rekonsiliasi diantara elit NW untuk menghindari jumlah korban yang lebih banyak karena sebelumnya terjadi bentrokan diantara dua massa yang bertikai.

This research is done to know the conflict of power that happens in Nahdatul Wathan organization that caused victims, wounded people and hundreds of houses burned. While the opposing forces are Hj. Siti Rauhun (she is the sister) whit Hj. Siti (She is the young sister. The elite family conflict happens after TGKH was passed between these two sisters involved the mass from those both sides and they were united NW people previously. The focus of this research is the conflict of power that happens in NW organization involved mass from the bath opposing forces. The vote of the chairman of PBNW is one of ways to get top position in NW organization, the competition between those opposing forces namely Rauhun and Raihanun sides to get position in NW organization makes this competition is hotter, so it is effected to the low range followers, according to the Weber this conflict doesn’t merely happen because of the imbalance economy resource or the production like Marx’s said, but conflict also able to be caused by power struggle (Sanderson,200:17). Where as Maurice puverger classifyies that the cause of politic antagonism consists of two factors. First factor happens in the individual level that has a meaning somebody has had natural talent since he or she was born, the psychology tendency and the second factor is happens in the social level (Duverger, 2002:159). To get data dealing with this conflict, the writer has done research used kualitatif method as a basis methodology and also used depth interview to the opposing forces of NW figures, the physic observation from those opposing forces and the documentary in the conflict spot as a research means in order to get the accurate and valid data, certainly, the mechanism that has been done by the writer in the interview used sampling purposive technic in order to get the accurate datas. Based on the research that the writer found are, first, the conflict happens in NW organization is power conflict that the one side concerned that they are roght and the other side is wrong, second this conflict is absolutely between the elite and the mass form NW themselves and there is no indication that is has relation with another sides beyond NW, third there is a reconciliation between the elite NW to avoid more victims because pf the quarrel happened between the two opposing forces previously.
