Kucing sebagai hewan peliharaan memiliki bentuk tubuh, mata dan kombinasi warna rambut yang beranekaragam. Saat ini, di Indonesia terdapat berbagai jenis kucing yang dipelihara, baik ras murni maupun campuran. Kucing ras murni biasanya memiliki sertifikat silsilah yang berisi identitas kucing. Oleh karena itu tujuan pengamatan ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi keragaman morfologi kucing domestik (Felis domesticus), mengenali karakter dan ciri khas setiap ras kucing, serta untuk mengetahui cara membedakan kucing pedigree dan non-pedigree. Ras kucing dapat dibedakan dari melihat karakter dan ciri fisik kucing secara keseluruhan serta dengan mengukur bagian tubuh kucing, hal ini juga dapat digunakan untuk menentukan kucing tersbut masih pedigree atau sudah non-pedigree. Keragaman morfologi kucing domestik disebabkan oleh adanya perkawinan silang antar ras kucing yang berbeda sehingga menghasilkan ras kucing baru.

Purebred cats usually have a certificate a pedigree that contains the identity of a cat. Hence the purpose of this observation is to identify the diversity of morphology the domestic cat (Felis domesticus), recognize the character and the unique characteristics of each the feline race, and to know the ways of distinguishing pedigree cat and non-pedigree. The feline race can be distinguished from see the character and physical features a cat as a whole as well as by measuring part of the body a cat, it is also can be used for determining a cat are still pedigree or already non-pedigree. Morphological diversity of domestic cats is caused by cross-breeding between different cat breed to produce new or cat breed cat breed.
