PENGARUH UMUR INDUK TERHADAP JUMLAH ANAK PER KELAHIRAN (LITTER SIZE) KAMBING DI PETERNAKAN BHUMI NARARYA FARM, TURI, SLEMAN

Kambing sebagian besar di ternakan untuk diambil dagingnya, sehingga sifat sifat produksi yang penting untuk diperhatikan salah satunya adalah jumlah anak yang dihasilkan induk. Litter size dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor yang salah satunya adalah umur induk. Selain itu litter size dibatasi oleh jumlah telur yang diovulasikan, perbandingan telur yang fertil, kematian sebelum melahirkan, dan kapasitas uterus. Kurangnya penelitian tentang kambing terutama mengenai litter size dan masih adanya perbedaan pendapat dari beberapa peneliti tentang ada tidaknya pengaruh umur terhadap litter size menjadi dasar dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan 70 indukan kambing yang sehat secara fisik dan reproduksi dari Bhumi Nararya Farm. Data yang didapat dikelompokkan berdasarkan umur. Metode perhitungan umur didasarkan pergantian gigi seri. Rata rata litter size umur 12- 18 bulan sebesar 1,44+0,52; umur 18-30 bulan sebesar 1,30+0,48; umur 30-42 bulan sebesar 1,25+0,44; dan umur 42-54 bulan sebesar 1,60+0,49 dengan total rata-rata litter size 1,43+0,49. Data yang didapat kemudain dianalisa dengan statistika one way ANOVA diperoleh tidak ada perbedaan nyata dari pengaruh tiap kelompok umur terhadap rata-rata litter size kambing. Hasil tersebut dapat disebabkan oleh faktor lain yang mempengaruhi litter size. Masih perlu adanya penelitian lebih lanjut tentang faktor lain yang dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap litter size kambing.

Most of the goats are bred for meat, so the important factor of the nature of production that should be noted is the number of litter size. Litter size is influenced by many factors, one of them is mothers age. Moreover, the litter size is limited by the number of ovum that being ovulated, the ratio of fertile ovum, the death before birth, and the capacity of uterus. The lack of research about goat especially of its litter size which the determinant factor of litter size is age and the contradiction among the researchers about the existence of age effect toward litter size, are the base of this research. This research is using 70 random samples of goat which healthy in physically and reproductively taken from Bhumi Nararya Farm. The samples are categorized according to the age. The counting method of age is based on the changing of incisivus teeth. The average of litter size at the age of 12-18 months is 1,44+0,52; at the age of 18-30 months is 1,30+0,48; at the age of 30-42 months is 1,25+0,44; at the age of 42-54 months is 1,60-0,49 with the average of litter size for all the age is 1,43+0,49. Based on the data analysis using one way ANOVA statistic method, there is not found the difference in the average of each age toward the litter size. The result can be reached by the other factors which give an effect to the litter size. There is still needed a further research about the other factors which can give an effect to the goats litter size.
